The Ensemble Theatre: Lost on a field trip to the museum, four children wander onto the mysterious thirteenth floor, where they discover a closed Black History exhibit of portraits, clothing, and artifacts of prominent black artists and activists like Duke Ellington, Billie Holiday, Jackie Robinson, and the first black pilot, Bessie Coleman. As the kids try on the clothing and handle the items, they magically become figures, living their history and telling their stories accompanied by music and songs from the period. The play pays tribute to well-known contributors to our history and encourages our youth to acknowledge and appreciate everyday heroes of their lives today, like parents, teachers, relatives, and friends.
